How account deletion works while preserving completed tournament records.

Account and Data Deletion

Last updated: 2026-06-08
You can delete your account from Settings. Deletion removes account access and private account data while preserving tournament records that need stable historical display-name snapshots.

Self-Service Deletion

Sign in, open Settings, then use Delete Account in the Account section. The button asks you to type DELETE before the account is removed.

In the mobile app, open Settings, then Account, and use Delete Account. If you cannot sign in, you can still request deletion by email.

Email Fallback

Send an email to support@missingno.run from the email address connected to your missingno.run account, if possible, when you cannot use the self-service flow.

Please include:

  • Subject: Account deletion request
  • The email address connected to your account.
  • Your current Compete nickname, if you have one.
  • A short confirmation that you want your missingno.run account and account-related data deleted.
  • Any tournament, organizer or support context that may help us verify the request.

We normally aim to process deletion requests within 30 days. We may need extra verification if the request involves organizer access, active tournaments, disputes or moderation records.

Data We Delete or Anonymize

  • Login sessions, API tokens and mobile Compete tokens.
  • OAuth/provider account links where feasible.
  • Email address and non-public account profile fields.
  • Push notification tokens, mobile device records and installation IDs.
  • Tracked player settings, favorites and private app/account settings.
  • The current/global Compete nickname on the deleted account; its normalized reservation remains without an account link to prevent reassignment.
  • Direct account references from historical tournament participants where the archive can keep a nickname or display-name snapshot without keeping the account link.

Historical Tournament Records

Completed tournaments rely on stable historical records. Removing a player from a completed event can break pairings, standings, match results, public team sheets, usage statistics, judge logs and moderation history.

For that reason, deleting your account does not automatically remove all historical tournament records. The account link can be removed or anonymized, but the nickname or display name used at the time of a completed tournament may remain as a tournament-time snapshot where needed for archive integrity. The app informs users during nickname selection that tournament records can keep that nickname.

Account identity
Deleted or anonymized where feasible.
Tournament nickname
May remain as the historical nickname or display-name snapshot for completed tournament records.
Nickname reservation
Retained without the account link so a claimed Play nickname cannot be assigned to another account.
Pairings and standings
Retained where needed to preserve tournament history.
Match results
Retained where needed to preserve event integrity and results.
Public team sheets
Retained where they were public under tournament rules or archive settings.
Judge/moderation records
Retained where needed for audit, dispute handling, abuse prevention or safety.

Active Tournaments and Organizer Accounts

  • If you own or manage an active tournament, deletion may require organizer/admin review first.
  • An active tournament may need to be transferred, finished, cancelled or assigned to another organizer before deletion is completed.
  • If you are the only organizer/admin for an organizer profile, ownership transfer or organizer archival may be required first.
  • If there are open disputes, judge calls, bans or moderation cases, some records may be retained until the case is resolved.

What May Be Retained

We may retain limited records where needed for:

  • Tournament integrity and historical archive accuracy.
  • Abuse prevention, safety and anti-fraud review.
  • Moderation, audit trails and organizer/admin accountability.
  • Dispute handling and legal obligations, where applicable.
  • Manually created backups until they are replaced or deleted by the operator.

Confirmation

If a contact email is available, we will send confirmation after the request has been processed or explain why additional verification or retention is required.
